Alone

This black and white, lone tree photograph, is something that I feel needed to be part of my collection. A simple, clean photograph of farmland here in Western Australia, just outside of Perth. I love the space in this shot and felt a black and white rendition would suit it. On this particular day when I realised the flat white skies were going to be around for a while I decided to drive out of town to photograph this tree that I had passed countless times on camping trips over the years. I think maybe I should have done it sooner!

A photograph of the Milky Way!

The Milky Way photographed on a farm in Western Australia. This old rusted truck made for a perfect subject however under a clear night sky the mood of this scene changes dramatically to how it appears in day light. Looking up at the stars on a clear night away from the light pollution of city’s is always a breathtaking experience. This is what this truck has seen every night for years!

Although the Milky Way may appear faint to the eye, the camera see’s a lot more. It allows me to show the amazing light display that occurs in the sky at night. If you have never looked at the stars on a clear night out in the bush away from major cities, you are truly missing out!

Sunlit Farm

Went up to Noble Falls last week, really just to have a look. I did get quite a few shots up there but this might be my favourite of the day. I didn’t realise while I was shooting that this is the same spot as Clint and Mel have photos from.

I waited by the car on the side of the road waiting as clouds blocked the sun. I waited about half an hour before I could see the sun crawl down the foreground and make it’s way to cover the farm area.

Very little has been done to this image. Just levels, a multiply layer to the clouds as areas were still very bright, and a slight selective colour to enhance the greens.

Happy Shooting!
