"There are no rules for good photographs, there are only good photographs." Ansel Adams

So Fun!

I have been sitting on this image for a week getting it just the way i like it before I ‘released’ it. I was gonna post it yesterday but had to undo a little bit of PS work. I had just been shooting a car for Airborne Suspension for a magazine article. On the way home I saw the clouds and stopped though hillary’s but decided to head to the rocky coastline a little further south.

I had been to this spot a number of times but conditions were never ideal. Last week… they were awesome! a firey red sky and crashing waves that were perfectly rolling over the reef into the little cove where i was sitting in knee deep water. It was so relaxing and nights like those are the ones all us landscape photographers hope and wait for!

It is a manually blended HDR as the reds in the sky were very intense! But i am pleased to say that there are no blowouts!

Cant wait to print this!

  2. Sweeeet. That has a super nice dreamy quality. The edges look very oversharp-ish on this tiny version. The reds are very well controlled, not blownout and looking saturated yet natural. If anything you could desat them a bit more as the dreamy quality of the foreground is presently competing with the sky for attention.
