Question?
Okay my site is very near finished but i would like to get an opinion from you all. I am thinking of including a page for my car images…. what do you all think?… yay or nay?
Heres a new one of me mates new car!

Yeah, man, I reckon yay. Your website is basically a portfolio of what you can do, and if you can shoot cars well then why not show it off. It could possibly land you a client who wants you to shoot their car, you never know…

If you feel the cars are part of your portfolio, or you want some work shooting cars then yeah sure – add them to your webpage!

Hi Dylan,
Its all about brands. Currently your brand is of an extremely good landscape photographer. That is what people know you as. So do you want your brand to be that of an extremely professional landscape photographer who takes photos of his mates cars?
I would personally develop a second site for your car photographer perhaps using a different domain and develop that brand as well.

Jamie I have thought of that but its just another domain that i have to pay for each year…. I already know of some guys that want some shots of their cars though…
I guess Beau might be able to come up with a nice idea… maybe just have a link somewhere to somewhere that is still in the same domain but appears to be a whole new site…? (god im good) 😉

I say yes Dylan. why not use a sub domain like cars.dylanfox.com etc. You find a lot of landscape photographers also do either weddings/ macro / nature / animals etc, so why can’t you do cars.

I could set up a subdomain on your site, something like http://cars.dylanfox.com.au and have a different layout for that section so it appears to be a whole new site. I think a pixelpost photoblog would work quite well for the cars section rather than a full blown website. Something like this ( http://www.roumagnac.net/blog/index.php ) but minus the comments section, since it is a portfolio not a blog.

I would say yes as well as Neal said have a sub domain for it as a lot of other photographers dip into different areas . Just need some more photos of none bogan cars like rice burners lol (only joking mate)
There was Big Als poker run on Sunday would have got a lot of good shots of hot rods etc down there and being a overcast day was nice soft light .

Yeah Kirk that legacy does about 100km to a kilo bag of rice! 😉
But it is actually quick being a twin turbo vertical opposed 4! Gives some of those stock 355’s a run!

I love planes Dylan, I would love to make my living as a plane photographer, unfortunately I have to take landscapes to pay the bills. 🙂 I say as long as it is in a gallery of other car images and is labeled “CARS” or “BOGMOBILES” why the hell not. p.s. how about a few Audis mate, the new Q5 is coming looks sweet. Saying that my wife wants a Kombi so that looks to be our next car, bloody hipee!!

Mate I say yes for sure. However you can get some sales happening is what you want. Not everyone can make money selling landscapes. So 2 options. Kneecap Fletch, or keep trying to drum up some new business to pay the bills. Next you can start on some portraits and weddings. I know how bad it sounds but hey, as Cuz would say, such is life.

Definitely takes some talent to make a car look this good, that’s for sure. Are you using the 400d? If so, you’re really getting to the best of it’s abilities. I follow a few of your other friends (ThomasParkes, JamiePaterson, KirkHille) and most of them use the 5D mkII, wasn’t sure if you were also? 🙂

Don’t make a sad face! If the camera does what you need, you should be happy. You take great photos. Perhaps if we all had 10 grand we’d all have the 5d. I know I would. *sigh* not even the stiumulus package makes a dint in the amount lol.

Yeah im still not sure if I will be getting that stimulus package (im getting sick of the three words, ‘Rudd, stimulus and package!).
