Hamlin Lake Jetty, After Neal & Flemming

Well I had to post this shot again cause I realised that, although I couldn’t avoid including the stairs in this shot, PS could get rid of them. Also thanks to Neal for pointing out the area of horizon not matching up. I have fixed these problems and also decided to get rid of the post nearest the camera on the jetty because it made the jetty appear to bend to the right once the stairs were removed.

We are packing up the cottage here at Hamlin Lake to head back to Indiana. I don’t think there will be to many photo ops in South Bend, but I will see if I can find something.

Happy Shooting!

  1. Nice stuff dylan. Is this a HDR or multiple image blend?

  2. Thanks Matt. Na it’s just single images stitched, there was amazing light around. It kinda does look a bit like an HDR though doesn’t it.

    Hi Dylan,

The weather was extremely bad in my area last night, one of the hardest hit suburbs. Melissa and I lost our back fence literally!!! We’ve had to call the insureance company to get it replaced.

Yep that is a better composition. It doesn’t want stitch this one though does it, the problem on the left side has moved one frame to the right , the ones on the right side of the jetty are gone it appears, still has the sensor spots in the water.
Great colors in this one, it is a nice shot.

Flem there was a tiny stitch problem there still, but a lot of the things that may look like stitch problems are actually just where the land over there bends around.

Jamie it sounds like Perth is having some rough weather right now.

Merv, you and Flem were right about the stitch problem on the left, but you were wrong to accuse my sensor of being filthy. haha
Those spots were actually just little things in the water.

I must be getting lazy cause this one had some things to check that i didnt even see!

Hey Dylan, what are those things in the water, there’s some on the left and a couple on the right side as well, are they jellyfish or something?

  12. Merv I think your looking at the bottom left corner of the jetty? If so thats seaweed stuff. The same as whats on the jetty. I can’t see any in the right though….

Cheers Kirk. Yeah I really like this shot. Thank God for this blog otherwise I would have missed a few pretty obvious mistakes.

Dylan if you zoom in on that grass on the bottom left of the jetty then go straight up to a position that is level with the first post there are some spots there. Then go directly to the left of them and there is something else there as well ,that’s what I mean. Sorry to be a pain but curious to know what it is.

  14. Yeah I see what you mean Merv. I already cleaned those up in the master file. They were just pieces of bark or something in the water. It’s good to have some one making sure I get those little things

  15. Hi Dylan

Yeah i prefer this composition as well.
Colouring is stunning right from the start, and the composition tops it off nicely.
