We Are In Business!
Well I finally have my mac ready for proper use.I was able to purchase PTGui pro for me mac after selling a print the other day. So heres my first image from the states (without a watermark).
I took this yesterday afternoon. I was with my cousins watching ‘Super Bad’ which finished, and i thought it was at least 11 but when I went up stairs I realised the storm we experienced a little earlier had passed and it was still light out as it was still a little before 9pm.
It was a great sunset and it was awesome to see the lake completely empty and dead calm after the storm. It was just me and my cousin who was fishing. I am so glad I got outside to see this and capture it!
I have a few more images from this sunset, but I think this will be my favourite.

Hi Dylan, outstanding sunset and cloudscape, wauv that must have been special to witness and you captured it well!
Hope you don’t mind a few suggestions. I think the right side is much more interesting than the left side and I keep wanting to pan right if it was possible. If you warm the white balance you may pick up more red light in the left side. Also I would have stepped 1 meter forward to get rid of that bit in the bottom left corner.

Very nice image Dylan, I agree with flem on the moving forward a bit to remove that dark spot on the lower left. I see you have similar problems like myself with stitching and water. On the left there is a frame slightly out of place. I don’t know the fix for this as I have several really nice images that suffer the same result. I have looked at cloning but so far it really has not produced the results I would be happy with. Maybe I need a Wacom tablet?

Cheers Flem. I know what you mean about the right side but thats how it looked as it happened and from the start I quite liked the way it had a cold side and warm side. But having said that I will see about warming up the right side and will let ya know.
As for the right corner, they are little steps into the water and it was one of the biggest problems with this jetty, because if I even line my self up with them I am left with like a metre of jetty to work with and it wasn’t working to well.
Thanks Neal, I hadn’t noticed the stitch problem so I will have to look at it.

One of the problems with stitching water is that there are very few control points for PTgui to find so you have to help it by placing some horizontal control points along the horizon!

Yeah I am almost always adding in some horizontal control points and I did for this image but it didn’t help that far left image. The water didn’t have any control points what so ever so it was working from the horizon which has some white house, and of course the jetty.
I am about to upload the image again so have a look.

Hi Dylan This is a nice shot with a very nice sky, but for some reason the stitching hasn’t quite worked. It seems to have lined up on the Jetty but the shore line on the other side of the water hasn’t lined up too well in a few places. Did you use the Nodal Ninja? Also you might have to clean your sensor soon as there are spots all over the water.
