Here is another shot taken not long after my previous post of Perth City, Western Australia. This is my home town and this is a very popular perspective of the city from Kings Park. I have tried to capture something I am happy with of the city for years and again I think this time may have provided the right conditions.

This is an 8 image stitch from the 5D mk2 for amazing resolution!

North Beach Photograph

Went out for a shoot tonight in the North Beach area of Perth’s coastline. Love this spot and have been here countless times over the years but I think this may be the shot from this particular spot I have been waiting for!

The dramatic water movement in the foreground, the big crashing waves and the intense colours look awesome!

Swan River Reflections

Perth’s Swan River was very calm on this particular morning and created this vibrant photograph. Now I know this photograph doesnt follow some traditional rules like the rule of thirds but have a gander at the quote sitting at the top header of this blog. Sometimes a dead center horizon just looks good and I think it does in this shot to enhance the mirroring effects of the river.

Deep Water Point

This is a shot I captured the afternoon before the previous image. I went back the morning after because I wanted to capture this scene as it is presented in the previous panoramic shot. However I actually still quite like this photograph too as it has a completely different feel to the other one even though it is the same location only hours earlier! Its all about the light!

Enchanting Sunrise

Went to Deep Water Point in Applecross on the Swan River the other night and left not entirely satisfied with what I captured. The water was glassy and I knew there would be little to no wind the following morning and there was gonna be some cloud around! So I set the alarm for a brutal 4am and headed down! The water was awesome!

This is a 7 image stitch on the 5Dmk2 with the 17-40mm lens. Eager to print this and see how it looks!

Here’s my first shot with the wide angle that actually used a wide view. Was very fortunate to have awesome conditions even after a day of rain!

This is an exposure blend of two frames, one for the splashing water and the other for the rough water in front of the rocks.

What do you think? Love it as much as me?

New 17-40mm!

I celebrated my 21st birthday over the weekend and I was very spoiled. My girlfriend got me a new Nikon point and shoot camera that I love. After using hers that we bought in the states earlier this year I wanted one. Among many other gifts my Dad got me a 17-40mm L-series lens that I got to use properly for the first time yesterday. Im excited to finally have a wide angle lens for the 5D and cant wait to capture some new angles with it.

This next shot was taken with the 17-40mm yesterday during some heavy rain over the Swan River. This is the gorgeous Claremont Jetty.

Wedge

Spent the weekend just gone up at Wedge again. There is nothing like relaxing on the beach up there in summer with your mates and some cold beers! I was stoked to capture some shots of the awesome blue waters on this trip cause the sun only came out for a short period on Sunday before becoming overcast and gray again.

Cant get away from North Cott!

Well after yesterdays post I went back down to North Cott and captured this. It blends two exposures, one for the foreground rushing water and then I used a slightly longer exposure to simplify the background water so not to distract the eye.

Heres a shot I took back in June before my USA trip this year. It was taken down in Cottesloe and the light was awesome as well as the water movement in this rock pool!

Really itching to get out of the city and photograph some new places! I seem to say that a lot!
